Carlos is a Cuban-American PhD Candidate in Philosophy at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, with an MA from the same institution. He works as an adjunct professor of philosophy, as the Director of the Midwestern Marx Institute, and as the Secretary of Education for the American Communist Party (ACP). Carlos is the author of a few books, including The Purity Fetish and the Crisis of Western Marxism (2023) and Why We Need American Marxism (2024). He is the Editor in Chief of Red America, the theoretical journal of the ACP, and of the Journal of American Socialist Studies, hosted by the Midwestern Marx Institute.
