The Argead dynasty, traced its mythical origins from Caranus a mythical descandant of the hero Heracles all the way to Alexander the Great's son(s). The succession of kings included pivotal rulers like Philip II and Alexander the Great. After Alexander's death, his empire was fragmented and the dynasty ended with Alexander IV.
