About Maria Metoikidou

Maria Metoikidou is an art historian specializing in the history of collections, provenance research, and cultural exchange between East Asia and the West. She completed her PhD at the University of Glasgow, where her research examined a collection of Japanese and Chinese objects formed in the early twentieth century, exploring its connections to collecting networks, scholarly circles, and art-market dynamics. She currently works as a Research Specialist with the Laing Art Gallery, where she reconstructs the history of its Japanese collection. She has previously held teaching and curatorial roles at the University of Glasgow and the National Gallery of Greece.
